Florentino sees €250M Real Madrid dream blow-up at home

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez saw his €250 million spending spree blow up in his face last night.

Florentino shelled out the record transfer outlay to reach the final of this season's Champions League at Real's Santiago Bernabeu. But like Alcorcon in the Copa del Rey, modestly-assembled Lyon ended Florentino's European dreams.

Only Karim Benzema (€36m) and Xabi Alonso (€30m) missed last night's game. But Cristiano"> Ronaldo (€96m) and Alvaro Arbeloa, through to Kaka (€65m), Ezequiel Garay and Esteban Granero, all featured. And Real Madrid's €250 million project fell apart in a disastrous second half.
