While Real Madrid did suffer reasonable injury blows during the ongoing international break, it soon came to light that neither the setback to Kylian Mbappe nor Franco Mastantuono was grave, leaving Dean Huijsen as the only seriously injured party.
The French winger, in fact, reportedly recovered well and was even said to have returned completely from the injury to return to 100%.
In fact, as relayed yesterday, Mbappe was all but set to return in Real Madrid’s game against Getafe at the weekend, albeit in a gradual manner to reduce the risk of a relapse.
Now, according to the latest update by L’Equipe, however, it is still uncertain whether Mbappe will participate against Getafe.
His right ankle is still not cleared medically to be fit enough to feature on the night and the player’s participation, thus, is anything but guaranteed.
He will thus train with the team today and on Saturday and evaluate his sensations before deciding on his availability.
Needless to say, the medical staff will also maintain a keen eye on how Mbappe finishes training and whether he is indeed free of pain at the site.
The development comes as a huge blow for Xabi Alonso ahead of a critical game against an opponent known for a notoriously low block in defence – one against whom Mbappe will be critical.
After all, the Frenchman has quite simply stolen the show in the team’s attacking department so far this season.
Not all news for the manager, however, is so bleak as the team already began preparations for the next game where Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba and Gonzalo Garcia were all seen to have rejoined group training normally yesterday.
Others including Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Eder Militao and Arda Guler are expected to join later today.
