Real Madrid spent 10 minutes in the club's indoor facility to speak with coach Manuel Pellegrini before training and Argentinian defender Ezequiel Garay spoke of the meeting with his team and tactician.
In comments reported by AS, Garay revealed that Pellegrini implored his team to remain calm and to maintain the confidence that has led to the favourable results and attractive football of recent weeks.
Garay said he was convinced that Madrid would reverse their poor result against Lyon and progress to the next round of the knockout phase for the first time in five years.
"Every match is difficult and we did not play well, but the team always steps onto the pitch to win. One way or another, we have a team that can come back from this."
Garay acknowledged a dip in Madrid's play in Lyon saying that "we did not play well and had a bad match, but with the players we have and with the fans in our stadium, we will reverse this."
With respect to this weekend's league fixture against Villarreal, Garay emphasised the need to maintain focus on the Liga race as well.
"We need to think of our Liga match, which is a difficult game, and now we need to focus on that competition. We are calm, we are conscious of what is before us, and we hope to rise back to form. It would be a nice tonic to cleanse our mouths of the bad taste left by the Champions League."
Finally, Garay hoped that los Blancos can continue chipping away at the three points that were shaved off the Liga lead last weekend with Barcelona's loss to Atletico Madrid.
