Man Utd make shock move for Owen

Michael Owen could be on the verge of the most shocking transfer of the close season to date, according to the Guardian, as the out-of-contract former Newcastle striker is in talks with Manchester United. The 29-year-old England international, who also played for United's arch-rivals Liverpool and Real Madrid, has already spoken with Old Trafford officials and could undergo a medical there as early as today. Alex Ferguson is keen to reunite him with his one-time international shooting partner Wayne Rooney...

Peter Crouch looks to be the latest big name to join the exodus from troubled south coasters Portsmouth, the Daily Mail reveals, with overachieving Londoners Fulham the most likely destination for the £10m hitman. Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson would have to shatter the club's wage structure to match the 28-year-old England international's £70,000 a week wages, but knows that he must inject some zip into his strike force. Fulham are also tracking West Bromwich Albion captain Jonathan Greening, who they could pick up for £3m...

Arsene Wenger will be furious that Barcelona have come calling for Arsenal's captain Cesc Fabregas again, the Sun reports. We all like him very much - he’s always been in our thoughts." Fabregas has already warmed to the idea, but told reporters that his primary responsibility is as skipper at the Emirates...

The 26-year-old supposedly told French sports newspaper L'Equipe yesterday that: "It's decided. I want to leave. Yes, it will be Real or nothing. I would like a discussion with the Bayern directors fairly quickly." But Chelsea remains convinced they can persuade the French international to join them, and Bayern maintain that they have no pressure to sell their star player
