Metzelder to undergo surgery on broken nose

Defender Christoph Metzelder broke his nose during Real Madrid’s 1-0 Primera Liga win over Valencia on Saturday and will have an operation on Monday.

“I will be operated on on Monday and that means I can only fly home (to Germany) on Tuesday,” the Real Madrid player told Reuters ahead of the Christmas break in the Spanish league.

Metzelder said he had twice broken his nose during his spell at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and had played with a face mask to protect it.
