Benitez to sound out Van der Vaart about Liverpool move

Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart is in the sights of Liverpool.

The Mirror says Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will think about approaching his former club Real Madrid to talk about taking Dutch forward Van der Vaart who has confirmed he will be leaving the Bernabeu in the January transfer window.

Benitez hopes to sign Van der Vaart on-loan in January with the view to a permanent deal at the end of the season. Chelsea and Everton are also keen.
