Real Madrid lose massive €68M on Dutch flop

Real Madrid's Dutch experiment has cost the club €68.5 million.

Rafael van der Vaart, a €11 million transfer to Tottenham, and Royston Drenthe, who signed with Hercules on Tuesday, were the last of the Dutch clan on the books of Real.

Two season ago, six Dutchman arrived, the aforementioned duo, plus Wesley Sbeijder, Arjen Robben, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for a total of €127.5 million. And they have all left for fees totalling just €59 million - not including wages and bonuses.

Real president Florentino Perez, says El Mundo Deportivo, never rated any of the Dutch and is happy to clear them off his books.
