Transfer rumours

Angel Di Maria has a plea

The World Cup finalist, who is scheduled for Real Madrid’s American pre-season tour, is unhappy with the Galactico additions of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos to an already bloated attacking line-up which also contains Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo as well as Gareth Bale, Isco and Jese Rodriguez.

It is being speculated that Louis van Gaal could splurge a significant amount of his transfer kitty on the Argentine, after a £45 million bid has been supposedly green-lit if certain reports are to be believed.

Due to Financial Fair Play rules, Paris Saint-Germain have petered slightly as the favourites to capture the 26-year old, as they can only loan the player this summer, with an option to sign next summer.

Di Maria is set to leave the Bernabeu this summer and PSG remain Manchester United’s main rivals to sign the winger. The player’s representatives claim that a deal could be confirmed this week as Spanish radio station, Cope, state that he is set to choose between Paris and Manchester.

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti expects di Maria to report back for training on August 5th following the International Champions Cup tournament in the States, and has stated that no fee has been agreed between Real and the two frontrunners.

Some media outlets have been reporting that Di Maria could leave Bernabeu for as much as £55 million which in the process would obliterate Manchester United’s club transfer record previously set by Juan Mata in January 2014.

However, reports in Spain are claiming that a €65 million fee has already been agreed between Real Madrid and PSG for next summer, with an initial season on loan in France.

United boss, Louis van Gaal is said to be a keen admirer of the attacker, and is firmly on the Dutchman’s wishlist for his summer’s transfer dealings. His counterpart, Ancelotti remains stubborn, confirming that there isn’t anything new in the transfer market in regards to the Argentine winger, who appeared in five games for his country at this summer’s World Cup.

In Louis van Gaal’s pre-season system it is clear that Di Maria could be drafted into the Old Trafford line-up as an attacking midfielder, forward or attacking wing-back.

With Nani and Ashley Young largely unimpressive over their career at Old Trafford as well as Jesse Lingard and Wilfried Zaha not ready to step up to the first team, there is a definite slot in which Di Maria could fill, should he fight off such players as Adnan Januzaj and Antonio Valencia.

The Argentine has experience at the top of the game, scoring in Real Madrid’s Champions League final win over bitter rivals, Atletico Madrid in May as well as helping his country to their first World Cup final in over twenty-four years in Br azil this summer.

The experience and talent mixed with lack of European football in Manchester compared to the current French champions with a squad littered with talent, is a choice which Di Maria will have to make over the course of this summer.

talkSPORT are also reporting that the Argentinian is set to complete a move to Paris St Germain this summer, initially on a season-long loan deal, with the sale completed in a years time. If true, it would contradict what the Daily Star have already reported.
