Real Madrid are considering accepting Liverpool’s offer of around £14.2million for Asier Illarramendi, according to reports from the Metro.
Despite Liverpool’s summer splurge, manager Brendan Rodgers is still looking to strengthen his side in a couple of areas ahead of the Premier League campaign and signing a new midfielder seems to be on the agenda.
Liverpool has perhaps not yet signed a like for like replacement for Steven Gerrard and it has widely been reported that the Reds are eyeing a move for Real Madrid outcast Asier Illarramendi to fill in the void left by the departure of their inspirational captain.
Illarramendi Is currently out of favour at Madrid and has been made available for a transfer this summer. Liverpool had initially placed a bid of around £10million in an attempt to sign Illarramendi but Madrid are holding out for more, considering the fact that they shelled out close to £30million in order to sign the Spanish midfielder just two years ago.
It has now emerged that Liverpool have upped the ante by placing an improved offer of around £14.2million for Illarramendi and according to the Metro, Madrid are ready to accept the latest bid from the Reds.
