Liverpool still remain interested in signing Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev.
The Russian international winger has been the subject of numerous rumours this summer suggesting a move away from the Bernabeu due to the fact that the 24-year-old is not in manager Rafa Benitez’s plans this season, according to the aforementioned source.
Cheryshev has been part of the set-up at Real since 2002 after joining the club from Spanish side Burgos, following in the playing footsteps of his father Dmitri.
He is yet to make a first-team appearance for Madrid having spent the previous two seasons out on loan to Villarreal and Sevilla.
He has made over a hundred appearances for the Real Madrid B team, however, and was an important part of the side in the 2012-13 season that managed to achieve promotion to the Segunda Division, after a five-year absence.
The Russian scored on his debut for Villarreal after joining them last term, netting the second goal in a 2–0 win at Levante.
He received a call-up to the provisional 25-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and was the only player present didn’t play his club football in Russia. He was, however, eventually left out of Fabio Capello’s final list for tournament.
