Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has warned table-topping rivals Barcelona that their sensational recent form in La Liga and the Champions League could end abruptly at any point.
Barca, who have smashed home 11 goals in their last three La Liga games, sit four points clear of Atletico Madrid at the top of the table, while Real Madrid sit a further two points behind.
Madrid were on the receiving end of a four-goal thumping in the recent El Clasico mauling but after winning 22 games in a row last season, Ramos knows how quickly fortunes can change.
"Football changes in a matter of hours and last season we ended the year really well and Barca were worse than us, but at the end of the season they won the Treble," Ramos said.
"Now Barca are in good form, so let them enjoy it, because you never now how long it'll last. You have to be prepared for both the praise and the criticism because, like I said, football is always changing."
Ramos was speaking at Monday night's La Liga awards just hours after it was confirmed Lionel Messi, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo would battle it out for the Ballon d'Or.
But the 29-year-old defender refused to comment on who he thought would pick up the prize in Zurich at the start of next year.
"It doesn't depend on me," he stated. "I don't know what criteria they use to judge it, but the three of them all deserve to be there."
"I have a little bit of healthy envy that I've not been able to experience a moment like that (being a Ballon d'Or finalist), but all three are ready (to win it)."
