Having thrashed Valencia 7-0 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, Barcelona can’t be accused of hubris for already having one eye on the final.
Save a miraculous comeback by Gary Neville’s charges in the 2nd leg, Barcelona will be in the final to defend their trophy, for the first leg of what could be an unprecedented back-to-back Treble.
And just as happens every year, a political fight has begun over where the final should be staged.
According to Madrid paper AS today, Barcelona have requested to play the final at the home of rivals Real Madrid, the Bernabeu.
Their reasoning, according to AS, is that the Bernabeu is the biggest ground in the country, and the best venue for a domestic final.
But Madrid might not see it that way.
