Gareth Bale accused of picking up injury while playing golf

The Welshman is a big fan of the sport and was seen at the Spanish open.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is set to miss the clash against Villarreal after picking up yet another injury. The player has been riddled with problems this year and has missed a lot of games this season.

Bale was reportedly seen golfing on Sunday during the Spanish open. The player is a huge fan of the sport and went to watch the event on the final day of the tournament. During the last stretch of the game leader Sergio Garcia supposedly invited Bale over to play the final four holes of his match which the forward gladly accepted.

According to magazine Ten Golf Bale played a total 36 holes on that day which equals two complete rounds. The media have now speculated Bale picked up the injury which according to Zidane is a ‘ sprain’ while playing the sport.

Zidane was questioned during his press conference if the injury was related to Bale taking part in the Open de Espana at the Finca Cortesín and La Reserva ground. But the manager denied any connection between the two events saying, "I don't know whether he played golf or not, but I don't think he did"

But the winger himself has not made any secret of his visit to the golfing event with him and Sergio Garcia posting pictures on twitter after the game.

Bale is reportedly a major doubt for the Champions League tie against Manchester City as well but Zidane is hoping he will be available sooner than that.

"[ Bale] has had an issue, felt something over the weekend, I'm not sure exactly what -- it's a strain at the back [of his leg]," he said. "Tomorrow he will not be there. I hope he will be back with us for the next game"

Barcelona's slump in form has once again blown the title race wide open. Real Madrid are now only a point behind Barca but Zidane has warned of complacency. "It's being said that we are going to win everything, and I don't like it at all. We haven't won any title at all yet"

"We are capable of winning both titles, but it doesn't mean anything. We will fight until the last minute and I assure you we will work until the end."
