Some 20,000 companies have registered in the Hengqin New Area as of May 18, with a total investment of 921 billion yuan, takungpao.com reported.
Among them, 889 are companies from Hong Kong and Macao, with a total investment of 92.5 billion yuan. The completion of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge next year will attract even more companies to settle down in Hengqin, said Luo Jianwei, the area's liaison official of the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office.
Luo also disclosed that an airplane leasing company from Russia may settle down in Hengqin and the Football Club Real Madrid may open a training school or a souvenir sales center in the area as well.
"China attaches great importance to soccer development; Real Madrid has a lot of fans on the Chinese mainland. There will be great opportunities for the club to set up a training school or a souvenir sales center in Hengqin," said Luo.
