Rennes are expected to announce the loan signing of Real Madrid wonder-kid Martin Odegaard without an option to buy within the next 48 hours.
Frenchman and Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane elected to send the Norwegian central midfielder to Rennes over other options in England and Germany because of the physical nature of the French first division, which Zidane believes will be a crucial experience in Odegaard’s development.
Zidane remained unconvinced that Odegaard was ready for the first team this season but when Castilla failed to get promoted to the second Spanish division, it became imperative that the 17 year old Norwegian was loaned out.
