Real Madrid midfielder Matteo Kovacic appears increasingly likely to remain with the European giants this summer despite rumoured interest from abroad.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting via Fox Sports Soccer that AC Milan have offered to take the former Inter man on loan, with the potential to permanently buy the player at the end of the season.
It is said that if the Rossoneri were to buy Kovacic, Madrid would insert a buy-back clause into the deal similar to that which saw them re-sign Alvaro Morata from Juventus earlier this summer.
The Croatian has found playing time difficult to come by in the Spanish capital since joining the club last season, but has been backed by manager Zinedine Zidane to succeed at the club.
The 22-year-old sits behind the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the midfield pecking order and there is certainly no reason why he cannot push them for a starting birth throughout the campaign.
Having only been with the club for a single season, the central-midfielder has rarely been given the chance to flourish in a team full of superstars.
Kovacic currently has 25 first-team appearances to his name with the Spanish giants. Expect him to grow as a player as he matures with age.
It might be a sign of things to come, with the Croatian playing a full match in last weekend’s win against Real Sociedad.
