Real Madrid defender Pepe has returned to training and could feature in the weekend’s contest with Las Palmas.
Pepe was forced to sit out Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Villarreal this week due to a knee problem.
As reported by the club’s official website, though, the 33-year-old is now back on the training field.
The Portugal international participated in a light individual workout as he was unable to feature in the full team session, but there is optimism that Pepe will be able to play against Las Palmas on Saturday.
Madrid head into that game on top of the table, having dropped only two points in the first five games of this season.
Pepe has only featured in two Liga matches so far this season but the centre-back will be hoping he can appear in Saturday's game.
Madrid are looking to start a new winning streak after their 16-match run ended against Villarreal on Wednesday.
The frustrating stalemate for Zinedine Zidane's men meant they missed out on a Liga record, which is now jointly-held with Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Casemiro, who also missed the draw on Wednesday, took part in an indoor training session as he steps up his return after a knock against Espanyol.
