Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane admits his team are in “a bad moment” following their 2-1 loss to Celta Vigo in the Copa del Rey quarterfinal first leg.
Madrid’s loss at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is their second defeat in four days following their 2-1 loss at Sevilla on the weekend, the two losses snapping a record breaking 40-game unbeaten run by Los Blancos.
Following the match Zidane expressed his disappointment with the result: “We didn’t go out and play the game as we’d planned to, particularly at the start of the match.”
“It is a bad moment, we will not hide this.
“Two defeats in a row, something is happening,” he added.
“We must look at it now and see what we can do to rapidly change the chip. We will come out of this together.”
Real Madrid’s top of the table loss to Sevilla on the weekend had an impact on the side’s performance, admitted the manager.
“The defeat in Seville has affected us, it has had a negative impact on the team,” Zidane said.
“We are fine physically, but maybe in the head the La Liga game [defeat] was tough "
“There are no excuses, we are Real Madrid and we need to continue to work hard and think about our next game."
“We’ll get over this. We’ve been doing things well until now, but we can’t be happy with the results in the last two games, however we’re not worried.”
