And afterwards Zidane admitted it was imperative that a club of Real’s stature should re-assert their domestic dominance.

After sealing a long-awaited league title on the final day of the season, you could forgive Real Madrid's players for wanting to take a moment to celebrate themselves on Sunday night.

But not goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who instead dedicated the title win to young cancer sufferers.

And the Costa Rican keeper even went a step further, shaving his head in the post-match celebrations to show solidarity with those who lose their hair during treatment.

In an Instagram post showing off his new look, the goalkeeper explained his decision in the aftermath of the win over Malaga that clinched Real's title.

"Thank god we won !!" he wrote on the social media site. "This title is dedicated to my family and to all the children who undergo very strong treatments and their hair falls out."

"Much strength to their families, and lots of faith that God never leaves us !! Hala Madrid and pura vida!!"

Navas has been a crucial part of the Real side that won their first league title since 2012, and are on course to retain the Champions League.

He made several fine saves in Sunday's win over Malaga, when Real knew they had to avoid a final-day defeat to win the title.

Navas celebrated in Madrid with his team-mates in the early hours of Sunday morning, as they arrived back in the Spanish capital to greet thousands of supporters who lined the streets.

The keeper, presumably feeling the chill without his familiar hair, wore a hat during the celebrations.
