Manchester United Football Club desperately have to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 28-goal haul from last season, and it seems like the man they have turned to is Alvaro Morata.
Now, ESPN’s sources are claiming that the Red Devils are ‘making progress’ in pursuit of the 24-year-old.
The report says that Jose Mourinho has identified the Spaniard as the striker he wants to lead the line next season, and they are still hopeful that a deal could be agreed before United’s pre-season tour – which starts on July 9th.
Furthermore, ESPN add that personal terms between Morata and Manchester United shouldn’t be an issue because the player is willing to make a move to the Theatre of Dreams this summer.
Morata’s 20-goal tally from last season is particularly impressive when you factor in how little playing time he was given at the Santiago Bernabeu. It’s hard to break into a side when you have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in front of you, and it seems to me Morata is ready to take the decision to move elsewhere in order to gain more minutes on the field.
The more I watch of the Spain striker, the more I think he’ll fit in seamlessly at Old Trafford. He can score goals from either foot or with his head, and he has the physical stature to compete with the sternest of centre-halves. All-in-all, it seems like a good match.
