Florentino Perez prepares to make big Real Madrid transfer announcement within 10 days

Florentino Perez is preparing to make a big transfer announcement at Real Madrid within the next 10 days.

Real Madrid have endured a poor pre-season, losing to Manchester United on penalties and going down 4-1 to Manchester City before being beaten 3-2 by bitter rivals Barcelona.

The El Clasico Miami saw Barca triumph in the early hours of this morning thanks to Gerard Pique's second-half winner.

And while Real boss Zinedine Zidane publicly played down the importance of the result, he and president Perez are thought to be concerned with the side's defence and attack.

According to Spanish website Don Balon, Real are now expected to press ahead with their world-record move for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.

Last week Spanish newspaper Marca reported Real had agreed a £161million (€180m) deal with Monaco for the teenage sensation.

The French club subsequently denied any agreement had been reached but Mbappe remains Real's top target.

And Don Balon say Real chief Perez wants to complete the signing before the August 8, when they take on Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup final in Skopje, Macedonia.

Real have made over £100m from player sales this summer, with Alvaro Morata (£60m) and Danilo (£30m) heading to Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.

Pepe has also left for Besiktas on a free transfer with Zidane and Perez aware the squad needs bolstering.

The Spanish giants have only brought in youngsters Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos in a quiet transfer window so far.

But in a bid to defend their La Liga and Champions League titles Real are set to spent before the new season starts in earnest.

Zidane's side face Barca again in a two-legged Spanish Super Cup in two weeks time and hinted that new signings could be on the way.

"This is pre-season and I'm sure that the results we've achieved weren't what we were expecting, but this doesn't alter anything," he said.

"The important thing is to be ready for August 8. I saw some good things out there, but also some things I didn't like."

"We've got to be patient, work hard and be ready for the UEFA Super Cup."

"I'm not bothered by the defeat. It always hurts, we don't like to lose but that's not the most important thing. We need to improve and change a few things."
