Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly does not want Harry Kane or Neymar at Real Madrid, but he does want the club to sign four new players.
Amid speculation about the forward's intentions to leave Madrid, he could be convinced to stay if the club make moves to improve in the transfer market, according to Fernando Rodrigo of Diario Gol (h/t Stuart Ballard of the Express).
Real are fourth in La Liga, 19 points behind Barcelona, and they have also been dumped out of the Copa del Rey by Leganes.
Ronaldo would supposedly prefer they make an effort to improve at the back rather than up front, though, and is said to be opposed to the arrival of Neymar or Kane.
Either would be an excellent and much-needed addition to Los Blancos, who have struggled going forward this season. Karim Benzema has netted just twice in La Liga, while Ronaldo has scored eight, half of which were in his last two matches.
However, the arrival of either could compromise his status as Madrid's go-to talisman, a position he has enjoyed at the club since his arrival in 2009.
According to Ronaldo, he would welcome compatriot Goncalo Guedes to the Santiago Bernabeu but would otherwise prefer Real recruit David De Gea and two defenders, having identified David Alaba, Leonardo Bonucci and Marquinhos as his preferred options.
It's likely Ronaldo hopes the club will make moves in the transfer market in order to compete better next season, but it's unlikely he's actually naming targets for them to pursue, even if he does wield influence at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo will be 33 on Monday, and even if he remains at Real for several more seasons, the club need to start transitioning to a younger attacking lineup. They must do so regardless of his feelings on the matter for the good of the team as a whole, or the talisman might end up holding them back in his twilight years.
