Real Madrid’s players were left stunned by Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments hinting at a summer transfer and feel it overshadowed their Champions League win, according to reports.
The Portuguese winger – the top scorer in this season’s competition – suggested he would consider his future over the coming days in an interview in the immediate aftermath of Real’s 3-1 victory over Liverpool.
And according to AS, the timing of Ronaldo’s remarks caused bewilderment and anger among the rest of the dressing room, with many feeling it was not the right time to air his grievances.
Ronaldo’s annoyance stems back to last January when he was offered a new deal that he considered insulting.
The Portuguese now earns significantly less than Neymar and Lionel Messi, though AS report that Real’s new offer was heavily linked to bonuses, both team and individual, that infuriated Ronaldo.
