Sergio Ramos sent a message of goodwill to Mo Salah after Saturday night’s Champions League final.
The Liverpool forward’s night ended prematurely after a collision with the Real Madrid defender led to a shoulder injury – although he tried to play on, the pain proved to be too much for him and he was replaced by Adam Lallana just before the half-hour mark.
Taking to his Twitter account after the match, Ramos wished Salah a speedy recovery as he races against time to be fit for next month’s World Cup in Russia.
Liverpool’s confidence appeared to drain once Salah went off, and a spirited effort in the second half wasn’t enough as they fell to a 3-1 defeat to the Spanish giants.
Jurgen Klopp was very pessimistic that Salah would recover in time to play in the World Cup with Egypt – a cruel blow considering his heroism in leading the national side to Russia – but a statement from the Egyptian FA on Saturday night was far more optimistic that he would still make the squad when it is announced at the beginning of June.
