Liverpool's players have been slammed for not being first to console their 'keeper.
Welshman Gareth Bale showed his world class before and after the final whistle after helping Real Madrid win a third consecutive Champions League title and a fourth in his five years with the Spanish giants.
For having sent a gravity-defying bicycle kick past Liverpool 's Loris Karius and then seeing his 30-yard shot slip through the grasp of the Anfield 'keeper, Bale was first to console the tearful and distraught 24-year-old at the final whistle.
And while earning plaudits for his classy gesture and even brilliant first goal, Liverpool's players have been slammed for not being first to console their 'keeper after his Kiev horror show.
Bale hugged the clearly devastated Karius while there was also words and comfort from his Madrid team-mates but fans and TV viewers used social media to blast Liverpool's players for not reacting fast enough to Karius' distress.
One said: "Not a single Liverpool team-mate is consoling Karius, only the Real Madrid players. So much for 'you'll never walk alone'."
Another Twitter user wrote: One Twitter user said: "Poor Karius. Leaving him there crying into the turf. Real Madrid players coming to support but NOBODY from his own team. This is the worst moment of his life."
While another said: "Karius has to be picked up by Real Madrid players. No Liverpool team-mates in sight. Poor sod."
Liverpools team-mates did eventually go over to console him and Reds legend Jamie Carragher made a point of comforting Karius as he left the pitch.
The former defender put an arm around the German's shoulders as he walked off.
