Real Madrid signed Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, according to a report from MARCA. Lunin is 19 years old and Madrid will spend €14 million on the keeper, who is believed to be one of the most promising goalkeepers in European football.
Los Blancos have not announced the deal but MARCA say it’s done. Considering that his name came out of nowhere, it’s safe to assume that Madrid will indeed complete the transfer.
Lunin played for Zorya Luhansk and will need a lot of experience before he actually defends Madrid’s goal. However, it’s clear that Madrid wouldn’t have signed the player if he didn’t have big potetial.
This move is similar to the one Los Blancos made when they decided to spend €10 million in Raphael Varane, who had potential but was almost unknown in Europe. Varane ended up being a perennial starter for Madrid and Los Blancos will surely hope that Lunin can do the same thing.
He will complete the pre-season with the squad and then coach Lopetegui will decide his future, given that he could benefit from spending a season on a loan deal.
