Real Madrid are preparing to say farewell to their most-prized Galactico as Cristiano Ronaldo appears to be on the verge of an £88m move to Juventus, and Florentino Perez has wasted no time in identifying the man he wants to replace CR7.
According to newspaper reports, Perez, the Real Madrid president, has already reserved the No. 7 shirt for Chelsea's Eden Hazard and even allocated him the same parking spot number at the club's Ciudad training complex.
Perez needs to make a statement of intent as Ronaldo's departure looks set to mark a relatively disappointing period for the club, during which they fell well short in the La Liga title race and they were caught on the hop by Zinedine Zidane's surprise resignation as manager following their Champions League success.
Perez is desperate to sign Neymar too but Hazard appears the more likely signature at this stage, with Diario Gol reporting that No. 7 spot has been reserved for the Chelsea man.
Hazard is yet to sign a new contract with Chelsea as he is still at the World Cup with Belgium in Russia, where he has played a starring role in their run to the semi-finals. The 27-year-old produced a performance that overshadowed Neymar in Belgium's 2-0 win on Friday night and he could be set for a big money move.
Chelsea's hopes of holding on to their key asset aren't helped by the uncertainty surrounding their manager as Antonio Conte remains in charge, despite a protracted saga involving Napoli's Maurizio Sarri. The delay in appointing Sarri has added to the air of confusion at Stamford Bridge currently.
