Real Madrid have finally devised a plan to honour Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo put an end to his stay with Real Madrid earlier this summer.

The Portuguese forward joined in 2009, and went on to score 450 times in 438 appearances.

He won almost everything there was to win at the club, including four Champions League titles, with his success etching his name in Real Madrid's history.

Many believe him to be the best player in the Spanish side's history. However, he did not get the send off you would expect from the club.

Ronaldo's relationship with president Florentino Perez was extremely rocky towards the end of his spell.

But now the dust has settled, Perez and Real Madrid have finally devised a plan to honour his service.

According to the Daily Mail,  Ronaldo will receive an invitation back to Madrid for the 2019 edition of the Bernabeu Trophy with Juventus set to be asked to participate in it over the coming months.

Ronaldo will grace the Bernabeu once again, where he can finally get the send off he deserves.

The pre-season friendly has traditionally been used to celebrate the return of a former player with club legend Raul returning with Al-Sadd in 2013.

Iker Casillas was invited back in both 2017 and 2018 with Porto, but the Portuguese side were unable to compete in the fixture.

It may be a year too late, but at least Real Madrid have finally devised a plan to give Ronaldo the recognition he should have had upon his departure a month ago.

Real Madrid will have a tough task this season replicating their success from previous seasons without the 33-year-old.

And Toni Kroos admitted earlier this week that his goals would be hard to replace.

"His 50 goals a season are not easy to replace," the Germany midfielder told Kicker, per AS.

"Cristiano has been an essential building block in our team over the past few years and a decisive factor in our success.

"But we will be hard to beat again this year "

While Kroos admitted Ronaldo's goals would be a loss, Dani Ceballos has stated his belief that Real Madrid will not notice his absence.

"We are playing in a different way, using the ball differently, taking up different positions on the pitch " Ceballos said.

"This Madrid scores goals. [Gareth] Bale is plugged in, Karim [ Benzema], Marco [ Asensio] ... you will not notice Cristiano's absence."
