City look to Keylor Navas

Manchester City could move for Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas following a long-term injury to Claudio Bravo, say Diario AS.

The former Blaugrana shot-stopper ruptured his Achilles tendon in training on Monday could now face a lengthy lay-off with 20-year-old Daniel Grimshaw now set to deputise for first-choice Ederson.

Despite the market being closed for English clubs, they could sign a replacement on an 'emergency loan' due to the rule of a long-term injury allowing an extra body to be added.

The arrival of Thibaut Courtois at the Bernabeu had muddied the waters on the Costa Rican’s future, but he has since insisted he wishes to stay with his deal running through until June 2020.

Navas started in both Madrid’s European Super Cup loss to Atletico Madrid and opening day La Liga win over Getafe but is thought to not be the number one long-term.

Earlier this week, El Mundo Deportivo said City may consider a move for Barcelona’s back-up goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.
