Cristiano Ronaldo's departure will not affect Real Madrid’s aim of winning the Club World Cup.
That’s according to Real captain Sergio Ramos, who is in Abu Dhabi preparing for the tournament.
Real Madrid, who won the Champions League for the third time in a row last season, being their defence of the crown by taking on Japanese side Kashima Antlers in the last four tomorrow.
They will face either River Plate or Al-Ain in Saturday’s final should they beat the AFC Champions League winners.
Real Madrid will aim to win the competition without Ronaldo after he joined Juventus in the summer.
Los Blancos have struggled this season without the former Manchester United star but are still favourites to win in Abu Dhabi.
But Ramos believes the mentality for Real Madrid doesn’t change even without Ronaldo.
"I think on the pitch there won't be much difference [to previous years], despite the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, who was a key player for us, but we're going to compete with the club's same philosophy as always: to win," Ramos said.
"We have good memories in this competition, because we've had success in the past."
"It's a short competition and there’s no room for mistakes."
"There's a semifinal and then the final... and we want to take the cup home to Madrid."
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes recently revealed that his client wanted to leave Real Madrid in January.
"He is the best player in the history of the game, so a lot of teams wanted him," Mendes said.
"Even so, Juve deserve a lot of credit for making this deal happen."
"Cristiano told me back in January that he wanted to join the Bianconeri."
"At that moment in time, I did not think that a deal would be possible, but I guess that I was wrong."
