Transfer rumours

Real Madrid star absent from training as he closes on transfer

Santiago Solari has had to call up a number of players from the club's Castilla ranks to make up the numbers in training amid in injury crisis.

Real Madrid were without a host of senior players as they prepared for Wednesday night's Copa del Rey meeting with Leganes.

Santiago Solari's side lead 3-0 from the first leg, but the Argentine won't be taking risks with a number of struggling stars ahead of Saturday's La Liga meeting with Sevilla.

At Valdebedas on Tuesday morning, Los Blancos were without Mariano, Jesus Vallejo, Marcos Llorente, Toni Kroos, Marco Asensio, Thibaut Courtois, Karim Benezema and Gareth Bale.

All are currently undergoing their own respective rehabilitation programmes.

They were also without third choice goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, ahead of his transfer to Leeds United.

The former Espanyol stopper, 32, is set to join Marcelo Bielsa's promotion-chasing side.

Casilla is keen to switch to Elland Road in a bid to resurrect his career having fallen down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having moved to the Spanish capital for £4.2million in July 2015, he has been a reliable deputy to Keylor Navas during Madrid's three-successive Champions League triumphs.

But the signing of Courtois from Chelsea in the summer demoted Casilla to third choice.

Mirror Football understands Leeds have proposed signing Casilla on a free and taking over the last 18 months of his contract.

One player who was in action and will be hoping to feature on Wednesday night was Spain midfielder Isco.

The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour under Solari and was an unused substitute in the weekend win over Real Betis.

His future remains up in the air at the club, although Solari insists he has no personal issues with the four-time Champions League winner.

"We played a serious game, we are who we are and we are all the team," Solari said. "It is made up of those who play and those who do not play.

"In no way is there anything personal."
