Sergio Ramos gave inspiring speech to Real Madrid squad following Florentino Perez clash

The situation at Real Madrid entered its most chaotic state on Tuesday evening.

On the back of consecutive home defeats to bitter rivals Barcelona - effectively eliminating them from two competitions - Los Blancos lost their grip on the Champions League.

After winning the last three editions of the tournament, which has preserved their fear factor and reputation in recent seasons, Real were eliminated by Ajax.

Santiago Solari's side were heavy favourites after winning the first-leg in Amsterdam 2-1, but were helpless as the Dutch side strolled to a 4-1 victory in the Bernabeu.

It was a hapless display from Los Blancos, which was typified by the fact that Sergio Ramos had picked up an intentional yellow card in the first game as he believed qualification was assured.

The captain was handed a two-game suspension by UEFA, meaning he'll miss the first group game in 2019/20 - providing Real actually manage to qualify.

Reports also detailed Ramos' fiery altercation with president Florentino Perez in the dressing room after the match.

As per AS, Ramos responded to Perez's hammering of the squad by saying: "Pay me up and I'll go."

It's a situation the club must resolve soon, but it seems Ramos is still trying to dictate matters with his teammates.

According to Marca, Ramos gave an inspiring speech to his teammates in the absence of Solari, Perez and the rest of the staff.

The captain stressed that they must banish their demons and concentrate on finishing second in La Liga, ahead of city rival Atletico - they're 12 points behind Barca.

Isco was the only player to interrupt Ramos at any point, with the playmaker apologised to his colleagues for refusing to get on the team bus after being omitted from the squad once again.

Will we see a response from Real away at Valladolid on Sunday evening in what could be Solari's final game in charge?
