Real Madrid prioritise PSG youngster

La Liga giants Real Madrid have made signing Kylian Mbappe their priority this summer ahead of a huge revamp in Spain, reports AS.

Having been knocked out of the Copa Del Rey and Champions League in quick succession, Real Madrid made the decision to sack Santiago Solari and re-appoint Zinedine Zidane as head coach earlier this month.

The French boss, who enjoyed huge success during his time at the Los Blancos helm before departing at the end of last season, has convinced president Florentino Perez that the squad needs a refresh in order to compete for top honours once more.

A failure to sufficiently replace Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved to Juventus, has been a key reason for their downturn in fortunes and Zidane has earmarked Mbappe as the player need to restore Real Madrid to their former glory.

The young forward has become frustrated at the lack of progression in France after their Champions League elimination at the hands of Manchester United, while Mbappe was previously hit with €180,000 fine for turning up late to a Thomas Tuchel team talk.

Mbappe, 20, has been exceptional for PSG this season, having a direct hand in 32 league goals, more than any other player in Ligue 1 and the second most in Europe’s top five leagues.
