Karim Benzema Breaks La Liga Record By Scoring Against Every Side He's Faced

Karim Benzema scored a late winner for Real Madrid on Sunday as they beat Huesca 3-2 and in doing so became the first player in the league to score against all of his opponents.

Look at any La Liga scoring record and it's likely that you'll be met by one of two names. At one point it felt like either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo was beating some club, league or Spanish record on a weekly basis.

The two men sit comfortably on top of the all time scoring chart for La Liga and neither men's records for Barcelona and Real Madrid are likely to be beaten ever, such is the ridiculous nature of their goalscoring.

Ronaldo is no longer playing in Spain's top tier but his former rival is edging ever closer to winning the Pichichi trophy, for La Liga's top scorer, for a record breaking sixth time.

However there is one record that either man may never break and they certainly won't be the first to do son.

Karim Benzema's 89th minute winner against Huesca on Sunday means the Real striker has scored against all 34 teams he's played against in La Liga, the first player to have completed the task.

The Argentina forward has scored against 38 of the 40 teams who he's played against in the league and only Cadiz and Murcia are left off the list.

Murcia are now in the third tier and Barca scored nine past them in the one season that the five time Ballon d'Or winner played against them but shockingly failed to get on the scoresheet.

Cadiz play in the Segunda Division and still have a chance at promotion this season, most likely through the play-offs.

Ronaldo scored against 32 of the 33 teams he faced whilst still in Spain and only a failure to net against Leganes stopped him from the record before Benzema.

The Frenchman is somewhat of an unsung hero at the Bernabeu and has scored 215 goals in all competitions for Los Blancos, winning two La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues.

Now he can add beating Messi and Ronaldo to a record on his CV and that might be the most impressive.
