Chelsea star Eden Hazard has to join Real Madrid this summer otherwise he will never fulfill his true potential.
That’s the verdict of former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness.
Hazard has been heavily linked with a switch to the Bernabeu and Zinedine Zidane’s return to the club makes a deal almost inevitable.
The Frenchman is expected to be given a huge budget to turn Real back into contenders and Hazard is top of his summer wishlist.
The 28-year-old has been in stunning form for Chelsea this season and he scored twice on Monday to single-handedly see off West Ham.
Hazard’s form could be crucial in the Premier League title race this afternoon as Liverpool plot to stop him from wreaking havoc at Anfield.
The winger’s prolific campaign has kept Chelsea in the race to finish in the Champions League, which will likely be his parting gift to the club.
And Souness has urged him to quit for Real this summer to truly establish himself as one of the world’s best.
"If Hazard had a different personality, he’d have left Chelsea by now," he told the Sunday Times.
"If he’d been that demanding type, he’d have left already because he is world class. Who would not want to take him?"
"Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich — everybody would want him. His first goal on Monday was sensational. Few players are capable of that, the balance and the speed."
"He’s all there in terms of power and physique, not the tallest but extremely strong."
"Where will Chelsea be without him? To lose him would be a huge blow because he’s their one outstanding talent."
"The word is he’s a really good lad, but he can be accused of getting in his armchair a bit during games and drifting out of them."
"That’s why it’s now or never. He needs to be in a more challenging environment."
"He has been fabulous for Chelsea but needs to be pushed, by himself or the environment he’s in, to go to the next level. Moving to Real Madrid can bring that out of him."
