Real Madrid are still keen on signing Paul Pogba this summer - but the Frenchman must agree to take a pay cut before the move can go through.
Los Blancos are in pole position to land Pogba as transfer speculation continues to cloud his time at Manchester United.
The Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish capital, despite the Red Devils' insistence that he will not be sold at the end of the season.
Both Pogba and Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane have publicly discussed the possibility of the midfielder playing at the Santiago Bernabeu in the future.
But according to ESPN, the player will have to take a pay cut if he wants the transfer to materialise.
Pogba currently earns £290,000-a-week for his services at Old Trafford.
But Madrid are not prepared to match that figure this summer.
ESPN continue by stating that some United stars expect Pogba to ask for a transfer this summer if the club fail to make the Champions League.
Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea means United now look destined for a return to Europa League football next season.
But United are determined to keep Pogba this summer no matter where they finish the season.
However, the former Juventus star has already publicly praised Zidane recently after the manager's comments in the press.
"Like I've always said, Real Madrid is a dream for anyone. It's one of the biggest clubs in the world," Pogba said in March.
"There is also [Zinedine] Zidane as a coach and it's a dream for anybody who likes football."
"For now, I'm at Manchester. We don't know what the future holds. I'm at Manchester and I'm happy."
