Real Madrid boss Zidane told to make Gareth Bale decision because of Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale is one “problem” for the club and they need to drastically reshape their squad.

That is according former Real Madrid goalkeeper Mariano Garcia Remon.

Garcia Remon, who won six La Liga titles and three Copa del Rey trophies during his time at the club, believes Bale hasn’t taken his chance to prove his worth in the team and and feels the player doesn’t fit in at Los Blancos.

Gareth Bale joined Real from Tottenham in 2013 for a then world-record fee of £86million.

And after Cristiano Ronaldo was sold to Juventus for £99.2m last year many fans expected the Welshman to step up and fill the void.

But the 29-year-old has only mustered eight goals and three assists in 21 La Liga appearances this season.

And Garcia Remon thinks Bale's failure to step up and replace Ronaldo means he should be offloaded.

"Real Madrid's major problem is that they have to assemble an almost entirely new squad," he told Radio MARCA.

"Some of the players have had a very bad season and it's shown that they can't play here."

" Bale is one of them as this year he was given the chance to succeed and become the main man, but he couldn't take it."

Winger Bale has had a rocky relationship with boss Zinedine Zidane and his future remains uncertain as the Frenchman prepares to overhaul his squad for next season.

Zidane has made his intentions clear that certain stars are not part of his plans for next season, with Bale reportedly being told he is free to leave.

To seemingly reiterate his point Zidane has even left Bale out of the squad for their last two games against Villarreal and Real Sociedad.

When challenged about his team selection and Bale’s absence, Zidane addressed the issue by saying: "It's clear what I've done this weekend."

"We'll see what I do next week and what happens next year."

"He's fine physically."

Real want Bale to go and if a transfer is not possible they are reportedly open to a team taking him on loan for a season, at the cost of £10m.

The only stipulation is that a club pay around £250,000 of the player’s £600,000-a-week wages as part of any deal.
