Spanish newspaper AS have claimed that Real Madrid are willing to sell Marco Asensio this summer for as little as £80million, amid links to both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool this summer.
Asensio, 23, is said to be a surprise inclusion on the transfer list at Real Madrid, after Real have already made five big-money signings in the form of Eder Militao, Luka Jovic, Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo.
The Spain international, who clocked up 44 appearances for Real last season and had a hand in 13 goals, joins Gareth Bale, Lucas Vazquez and Isco on a list of four players that Zinedine Zidane is willing to sell.
Tottenham were linked with Asensio towards the end of May, with AS reporting Mauricio Pochettino side’s interest. It was believed that the north Londoners would have to meet his £620million asking price, but that is no longer the case.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reckon Liverpool are to make an offer for Asensio this summer, as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve what is a near-perfect side after their Champions League triumph on June 1.
For £80million, Asensio is an absolute bargain. A combination of flair, vision, creativity and class are all combined into Asensio’s near-impeccable style of play. Indeed, he is a player that would get into any side.
It would be an enormous coup for Tottenham. They need a player such as Asensio, especially with doubts remaining over the future of Christian Eriksen.
Liverpool, though, will be expected to spend this kind of amount on big-name players, especially after bringing in Alisson and Virgil van Dijk for an almost combined £150million over the past 18 months.
