Former Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui wants to sign Spanish defender Nacho Fernandez for Sevilla, according to a report from AS.
Nacho would be Lopetegui’s first target in the Andalusian club but it won’t be easy for them to reach an agreement with Madrid, per that same report.
Nacho’s role in Real Madrid’s depth chart is most likely going to take a hit after the signing of Eder Militao, so the defender could potentially consider his options if Sevilla’s offer is good enough. Los Blancos would want to get at least €30 million to let Nacho go and Sevilla just don’t want to spend that much on a player who will turn 30 years old in January.
However, Nacho was always an important player for Lopetegui when he was in charge of the Spanish national team and his ability to play in all four spots of the defensive line could definitely help Sevilla.
It would make sense for Madrid to ultimately accept something close to €20 million considering that they need to offload many players and that Jesus Vallejo proved to be a decent backup for that fourth center-back spot during the last few games of the season.
