Arsenal are reportedly ready to make their move for Marcelo after the Br azilian left-back asked to leave Real Madrid.
The 31-year-old has been at the Bernabeu for 13 seasons, winning four La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues.
But after being a mainstay of the side for much of his time there he struggled with form and injuries last year and is no longer guaranteed a starting role.
His place in Zinedine Zidane's plans are under further threat now following last month's purchase of Ferland Mendy from Lyon in a £47m deal.
He has asked to leave the club having received lucrative offers from around Europe, according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Arsenal are among those interested but face strong competition form Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan.
He is now believed to be considering his options with his representatives in talks with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Marcelo is enjoying a break ahead of pre-season after he was dropped from Br azil's Copa America squad by manager Tite.
His compatriots face Peru in the final this weekend.
