MARCA reports that the Frenchman is utilizing an attacking trident of Hazard, Benzema, and Vinicius in training.
One of the many questions heading into next season was the impact of Eden Hazard on Vinicius JR’s playing time. The young Br azilian even came out this summer and admitted he may not be one of the first names on the team sheet. Hazard has been dominating the left flank for nearly a decade at an elite level. He has the versatility to play through the middle or even on the right, but to get they very best of Hazard is play him on the left. Thus Zidane has been left to ponder what the best system is for his new look Madrid squad.
Even though Hazard functions best on the left, doesn’t mean there is not a place for Vinicius JR.
Reports from Spanish publication, Marca, suggest Zidane has done just that— placing Vinicius Junior on the right wing. The attacking trident would be made up of Hazard on the left, Benzema through the middle, and young Vinicius in a new spot, on the right. Zidane’s system will likely be fluid and see a constant interchange between the three as they can all assimilate to any of the three attacking positions.
The first preseason match of the season is this coming Saturday, in Houston Texas, against a strong Bayern Munich team. This match will likely give the public first glimpses into Zidane’s thoughts ahead of the new season. Will we see the new trident make their debut?
