Real Madrid are preparing a take-it-or-leave-it £60million raid for Tottenham star Christian Eriksen as part of a larger plan to sign Neymar, according to reports.
Eriksen is in the final 10 months of his Tottenham contract and can sign a pre-agreement with a foreign club in January.
The Dane admitted earlier this summer he feels ready for a new challenge - a comment which also sparked interest from Manchester United.
But the midfielder remained in north London as the British transfer window passed.
Real Madrid still have two weeks to finalise their squad and they are plotting a late move.
According to the Sun, the La Liga giants are willing to offer a final sum of £60m for Eriksen.
They believe Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s policy of not letting players run down their contract will lead to him accepting the deal.
And such transfer will then kick start a larger plan to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Sun add Real see Eriksen as an ideal replacement for Luka Modric, who will be offered to PSG as part of a swap for their Br azilian star.
Los Blancos are apparently confident of signing Eriksen and swapping Modric as part of the deal for Neymar.
It is also claimed Zinedine Zidane’s side have cooled their interest in United midfielder Paul Pogba as they focus all their attention on making a double swoop.
However, Real will face competition from Barcelona for Neymar.
The Catalan side flew to Paris on Monday to discuss taking the forward back to the Nou Camp.
But talks hit an impasse, despite Philippe Coutinho being offered as part of the deal.
Coutinho has since travelled to Germany ahead of sealing a 12-month loan move to Bayern Munich.
And that leaves Barcelona short of options to offer PSG in any further talks.
So Real are looking to capitalise on their arch-rivals’ failure.
