Transfer rumours

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane hints that Neymar transfer could still happen

PSG superstar Neymar is wanted by Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has refused to rule out a late swoop for Neymar.

The PSG superstar is a man in demand this summer and is angling for a departure from the city of lights.

Both Barcelona and Real have reportedly been vying for his services before the European transfer window slams shut.

It’s thought PSG are prepared to sell, but they won’t let him leave on the cheap.

The Ligue 1 champions are adamant that they want the £199m paid for him in 2017.

Zidane, although clearly frustrated by the transfer talk, admitted incoming players are possible.

"Until September 2 everything can happen, there are players who can leave and others who can arrive," said Zidane.

"I want to see that day, because that will end all these market issues."

"I do not know what will happen, only tomorrow we play against Valladolid."

When pushed again on Neymar, Zidane added: "My players are the ones here. We only think of the match against Valladolid."

Reports have suggested that Neymar is now training on his own as he looks to secure a move.

PSG sporting director Leonardo has refuted the claims, though.

"Those stories aren’t good, he isn’t away from the group," he explained.

"He’s still working on a personalised rehabilitation program."

"Neymar is still a PSG player and we shouldn’t forget he still has three seasons left on his contract."

"We need to analyse and resolve all the issues before he can play again."

Barcelona remain heavily linked with the Br azil international.

However, huge question marks remain around Barca’s ability to fund the deal.

Ernesto Valverde swooped to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.

But they had to get a £31.5m loan to complete the £108m deal.

Speaking last month, Josep Maria Bartomeu revealed the deal wasn’t straight forward and gave an intriguing insight into Barca’s financial state.

He said: "The club has taken out a six-month unsecured loan for €35m and the remaining €85m [is funded by] anticipating payments yet to be received."
