Castilla’s coach knew Kubo’s departure could happen.
Raul Gonzalez’s Real Madrid Castilla drew 1-1 at Las Rozas on their Segunda Division B debut and the club legend talked to the press after the game to address the news about Kubo and Rodrygo, especially now that the Japanese wonder kid has joined Mallorca on a loan deal.
"It was a pleasure for me to coach Kubo but he was a first team player. I wish him good luck in Mallorca," said Raul when asked about the promising player.
It seems that Rodrygo will end up staying in Castilla this season although some reports suggest that he could leave on a loan deal if Real Madrid end up signing Neymar.
"Rodrygo is the same case as Kubo, he’s a first team player and Castilla is there to help the first team. When he’s with us we will help him in every way we can. Not a single decision taken by the club will change my plans, I will train Tuesday with the players I have and that’s not a decision I have to make," explained Raul when asked about the rumors.
The club legend is considered one of the candidates to potentially replace Zidane if or when the Frenchman decides to leave.
"Right now I’m learning and being with Castilla for a while will be helpful. We will see what happens in the future but I’m not thinking about it, I want to learn from these players and this competition. I will surely make mistakes but I will fix them, I’m enjoying every minute. I’m so happy about the opportunity the club gave me because in just a single year I went from coaching in the academy to Castilla. We’ve got a good group and we’ve worked a lot," concluded Raul.
