Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane plans to reinvigorate the career of playmaker Isco as the Spaniard attracts transfer interes

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane plans to reinvigorate the career of playmaker Isco as the Spaniard attracts transfer interest, according to AS.

Zidane arrived at the Bernabeu in March for a second stint in charge of Los Blancos and found the former Malaga man ostracized by previous boss Santiago Solari.

The Frenchman admires the 27-year-old but has struggled to give him many minutes because of the undisputed berths of Federico Valverde and Casmeiro in midfield.

That made the sharks begin to circle as Arsenal and Manchester City were reportedly interested in capturing his signature, the latter in a bid to replace outgoing David Silva.

But Zidane has no intention of letting go of Isco, with his 18 or so minutes against Eibar last week a signal of the manager's intend to slowly reintroduce him as a main player, AS claim.

Isco has a contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2021 but found the net just three times in a mere 11 La Liga starts last season.

The last time he started this season was during a 1-0 loss to Mallorca on the 19th of October.

He may continue to find it hard to get minutes in a midfield that includes Valverde, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casmeiro - with Gareth Bale, Vinicius Junior, James Rodriguez, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vasquez also vying for game time.

But Zidane has plenty of games in which to reintroduce Isco, with fixtures against PSG, Brugge, Valencia and Barcelona among those before Christmas day.

The Malaga native arrived in 2013 for around £26 million, in the same window as Bale and has played almost 300 games, scoring 48 goals.

His dip in form saw him left out of the Spain squad for the fixtures against Norway and Malta.

But current boss Robert Moreno believes the midfielder is 'one of the best in the world'.

Speaking when he was number two to Luis Enrique, who left Isco out of this week's games, he said:  "If he wasn't Spanish, we'd want to nationalise him. He's one of the best between the lines, for us he is the ideal player."

"I don't know why he's had a season like he has had [because] the three times that he has been with us he has had amazing performances."
