Real Madrid Consider Termination of Andriy Lunin and Javi Sanchez Loan Deals

Both players are open to a new destination as neither have played a single minute for Valladolid during the 2019 - 2020 La Liga campaign

Real Madrid are evaluating their options and looking into the possibility of terminating the loan deals of Andriy Lunin and Javi Sanchez in January. According to a report from Sergio Santos of AS, both players would be open to a new loan move as long as they can get some guarantee’s over game-time. Currently, there is no option within the contracts which would allow for the termination, but Valladolid would not stand in the way of Madrid. At Valladolid, they would like to maintain strong relationships with Real Madrid and recognize that neither player has had the minutes required to improve their projection and overall development.

The final decision ultimately depends on whether or not destinations can be found where each player will find the required minutes needed to grow and develop their game. Given that it would be a mid-season transfer, it may be difficult for each player to arrive and adapt quickly, but apparently offers have been made to the Bernabeu offices.

The club are very concerned with the development of Lunin. They feel he is a top prospect and had proven so during the U20 World Cup this past summer, where Ukraine ended up as champions and Lunin won the “Golden Glove” award. Meanwhile, Javi Sanchez arrived at Valladolid injured and has since been unable to displace Salisu, one of the revelations of La Liga, and Olivas, who has been at a good level for Vallaldolid over the past two years.

The third Valladolid loanee, Jorge De Frutos, has managed a few cameo appearances from the bench. Although he is not a starter, the club feel he can earn a role with Valladolid and will not look to terminate his loan early. If a new destination can be found for the former two, then Madrid and the players should jump at the opportunity — both are too good to be wasting developmental years on the bench away from Madrid.
