Although James Rodriguez has fallen down the pecking order in a crowded Real Madrid midfield, the team have no intention of selling the talented Colombian this winter.
Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez is expected to return to the lineup against Getafe after missing more than a month with an injury, and Los Blancos intend on getting the most out of him in the second half of the season.
Injuries have long been an issue for James, who was missed time with a couple of issues this season. The latest is a knee injury he picked up over the November international break with Colombia.
But James will return to the Real Madrid starting lineup soon enough, and while there have been rumblings of a potential transfer to the Premier League, the player won’t be moved this winter.
Mario Cortegana of AS reports that Real are not even thinking about selling James in January. They believe the 28-year-old can prove to manager Zinedine Zidane that he should have a regular role in the rotation.
Nobody should bet against James either. He has been solid this season when healthy, and he’s even had a few standout performances this season. James put on a passing masterclass in a win over Levante, scored a late goal against Granada, provided all sorts of hard work in a win at Sevilla, and was one of the only bright spots in the season-turning loss to RCD Mallorca.
James is one of the best passers in the world and a fan favorite. Real Madrid wouldn’t get fair value if they sell him now, but a strong second half of the season can go a long way in boosting the Colombian’s value.
More importantly, Los Blancos have a chance to win La Liga and the Champions League, and the 28-year-old can help Zidane win both titles. Real need quality depth where they can get it, and everything about James’ ability screams “quality”.
