Real Madrid center back Jesus Vallejo has found it difficult to obtain playing time in the Premier League this season at Wolves, but a return to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga could be exactly what the doctor ordered.
The Real Madrid loan army has largely enjoyed a successful 2019-2020 season thus far. Sergio Reguilon and Martin Odegaard have looked like future superstars with La Liga sides competing for a Champions League spot, Takefusa Kubo has flashed his potential with RCD Mallorca, Oscar Rodriguez has managed to make some noise for lowly Leganes, and Achraf Hakimi has taken another step in his development at Borussia Dortmund.
But not every Real Madrid loanee has been fantastic this season. Promising center back Jesus Vallejo, for example, has struggled to receive playing time in his first half-season with Wolves. As such, Real and Wolves are reportedly prepared to terminate Vallejo’s loan deal so that Los Blancos can send him to a club that will value the defender.
Vallejo played as a loanee for Eintracht in 2016-2017 as a youngster. He earned a reputation for being a quality defender in the Bundesliga, and he was put on the map as a top center back prospect that season.
His 2016-2017 campaign remains the best and most active of his young career. Vallejo played a whopping 2,055 minutes for Eintracht, averaging an incredible 2.8 interceptions per game, per WhoScored.com, to show an incredibly advanced reading of the game at that age.
A loan to Eintracht could be the move the 22-year-old needs to remind fans around Europe that he’s a defender worth keeping an eye on. Vallejo’s loan at Wolves, where he’s made only two appearances, has hurt his reputation slightly, but the quality is there. Eintracht could be a great spot for him, especially since they are among many clubs in Germany that are willing to give playing time to talented loanees.
