Dani Ceballos is reportedly seeking an early end to his Arsenal loan spell in a bid to strengthen his chances of making Spain's Euro 2020 squad.
After a promising start at the Emirates, the midfielder has failed to play a single minute since November 6 for the Gunners.
He missed nine Premier League games due to a muscle tear injury and has so far ben overlooked by new manager Mikel Arteta.
According to Spanish radio programme, Carrusel Deportivo, he has told Arteta of his desire to leave.
He has also spoken to Madrid about his desire for a new challenge and they will look into the possibility of ending the loan agreement this month.
Interest in the 23-year-old is thought to be high as he looks to push his way back into Luis Enrique's plans for the summer.
