Manchester United have reportedly joined Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.
Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos but may struggle to negotiate with the La Liga giants because the star has a £435million (€500m) release clause.
Every player in the Spanish league must have a release clause in their contract and to prevent their ace from leaving and Real have set it exceptionally high.
Kroos has been in and out of Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI over recent weeks as the Frenchman attempts to address the recent poor run of form.
If Zidane is still in charge at the end of the season, he will need to look at overhauling his underperforming squad.
And Kroos could be one of those who moves on as his six-year spell at the Bernabeu appears to have run its course.
According to Spanish outlet Diario Madridista, the 30-year-old has made contact with his former club Bayern Munich about returning to the Allianz Arena.
However, the German is under contract with Real until the summer of 2023 so they are under no pressure to sell on the cheap.
It is also claimed interest from United and Paris Saint-Germain will inflate the price.
Real would likely sell Kroos for less than his outrageous £435m release clause - which is over double the world record transfer fee.
But still the heavy price tag may put off Old Trafford chiefs as they have top targets laid elsewhere.
